Facing the Blackmail and Threats
By: Mohammad Al-Sahli

The American "century Deal" is becoming more obvious by time, as with the advent of the Trump administration, the United States has begun to draw up the operational mechanisms to impose its "regional peace" on the countries and peoples of the region.

As a part of this American plan, the United States is seeking to compel the Palestinians to bow to what they have previously rejected, starting with the cancellation of the refugees' right of return to their homes and properties, to the establishment of a Palestinian state with its capital in Jerusalem, and ending with the implementation of Israeli vision regarding the future of the occupied Palestinian territories by 1967 aggression; eternalizing the settlements in all West Bank and the Judaization of Jerusalem after the exclusion of its people, and replacing them with settlers.

From this point, Washington is threatening Palestinians, by cutting the financial and political support if they do not respond to this plan and try to resist it, in defense of their rights guaranteed by the resolutions of international legitimacy.

The changes we are witnessing, in the US strategy, toward the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, clearly indicates that Washington has moved from protecting the occupying state to helping it, to complete what has not been implemented yet from the Zionist project in Palestine, and thus repeats what happened in 1947 after the unjust decision to divide Palestine, and pushing for the establishment of the Hebrew state and ignoring and even preventing the establishment of a Palestinian state.

In this context, Washington is supporting Tel Aviv in its concept, "what is ours, is for us, what is yours, is for you and us", then it places the Palestinian Bank on the partition table, with or without negotiation, according to the Israeli map, which leaves to the Palestinians only what they have under their feet in their towns and villages excepting Jerusalem.

Obama's administration had discussed the issue of "regional peace" during Aqaba summit before the end of its term, then it turned out that Netanyahu didn't want to go into it for a simple and substantial reason, that is Tel Aviv is not ready to be engaged in any bilateral or regional settlement , in which there could be in negotiations, that will lead to the withdrawal of the occupation from any area, occupied in West Bank, including the evacuation of any settlement, in addition to the issue of Jerusalem, which Tel Aviv insists that it will remain united and the eternal capital of the Hebrew state.

At that time, the government of Tel Aviv was worried, because of Obama's speech in Cairo on June 4th 2009, in which he spoke about the importance of freezing the settlement activities and the establishment of a Palestinian state, and with the end of Obama' administration, Netanyahu said within the Likud that he was right especially after the US abstention from using the veto in the Security Council against Resolution 2334, which condemned Israeli settlement in the West Bank, including Jerusalem.

In this context, Netanyahu nowadays is welcoming the "efforts" of the American settlement after Trump announced that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel and his intention to transfer his country's embassy to it, but before that, he has placed the Palestinian Authority under the conditions of the occupation and pressed for their implementation to "rehabilitate" the Palestinian situation to accept the reality of occupation and refrain from resisting it, even peacefully. These conditions even went so far as to demand the Palestinians to obliterate their national memories and deny their martyrs and their families.

Netanyahu is also welcoming the efforts of the Trump administration on the "settlement", in terms of its compatibility with his "economic peace" plan, which exempts the occupation from the issue of an independent Palestinian state, and replacing this "concern" with the improvement of the economic situation of Palestinians, through local projects, that are supported by the countries of the region.

Netanyahu does not feel at this period that he and his government are forced to pressure on the Palestinian side to accept the Israeli vision, as long as Washington does so, by threatening to cut off aids to the PA and seeks to eliminate UNRWA, by cutting off the US contribution to UNRWA's budget which is 60%.

It is noteworthy that Washington does not contribute to the financing of many international institutions or providing financial assistance to some countries, in terms of generosity and assistance, but it has been a policy adopted for decades towards these institutions and countries to control their policies and to force them to follow Washington and its interests, so, when the two sides clash, Washington announces the threat of cutting off aid. This is happening now to the Palestinian Authority and to the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). Trump administration did that before the UN General Assembly vote on a draft resolution rejecting the US president's declaration on Jerusalem.

It is expected that Washington will put more pressure, if any donor to the PA or UNRWA tries to compensate for the US part of aid if, Trump administration carries out its threat.

The most important in this regard, is the moving from verbal expressions regarding the rejection of the US administration's proposal on the Palestinian issue, to the immediate start of confronting this through the re-consideration of the Palestinian national liberation program with its main titles, starting with the implementation of the decisions of the Central Council at its 27th meeting, drawing up a unified national plan, to enable the Palestinian situation, to formulate policies that strengthen the possibility of steadfastness, in the face of pressure and moving to confront the occupation, through the launch of the popular resistance and the protection of the "Intifada of Jerusalem" ,in the face of the occupation and the settlements.

It is important to remind the fact that despite the American and Israeli pressures, the Palestinian side in 2012 achieved an important international achievement, when the General Assembly adopted a resolution, asserting that Palestine is a state under occupation since the 4th of June 1967 with Jerusalem as its capital, which led it to become a member of dozens of international institutions, the most important of these, is the International Criminal Court. In this regard, it is necessary to activate this membership, submit immediate complaints in regard to the occupation crimes and to work on its trial for committing these crimes.

This is possible, if the official Palestinian policy leaves the seats of waiting and hesitation, after it has been proven to all, that the American bag only bears for the Palestinians the factors that perpetuate and renew their catastrophe, which is more than clear.
