Netanyahu’s Dilemma and the American “Boons"

Since a short time, the Israeli police have examined multiple files about suspicions of corruption circulating around Benjamin Netanyahu. Each case has a "state's evidence" stands against him, which could put the political future of the Israeli prime minister on the brink of an impasse, if the Israeli prosecution decides to make peremptory accusations in preparation for his trial .

Although Netanyahu is trying to reduce the repercussions of these suspicions and the possibility of turning them into a formal indictment, the tension that accompanies Netanyahu's responses to these suspicions indicates that he puts into his account that things can get worse than he expected on these files.

As he used to do, the more he loses his way, the more he knocks the war drums, politically and in the field, to draw the attention of Israeli public towards the trends he prefers, which are often towards the "existential line" that continues to threaten Israel, and his continued success in preventing this danger!

MP Ayman Odeh, the head of Knesset's joint list, was right to accuse the US administration of working hard to prolong the life of Netanyahu's far-right government. This was not based solely on US Vice President Pence's recent speech to the Knesset, but it is an assessment for the new American political track since the Trump administration's coming and the aggressive positions it has taken in the attempt to eliminate these rights.

Observers noted that Netanyahu's reaction to Trump's declaration to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of the occupation state was more than normal, attaching it to the gains of the Hebrew state behind this recognition, to the extent that this would be considered as a personal achievement for the prime minister, whom his allies consider it as a reaction to his refusal to Obama's speech in Cairo 2009, about the need to freeze settlement and the right of Palestinians to establish their own state.

Netanyahu has used the regression of the American position and the turning of its pressure on the Palestinian negotiator, to strengthen his influence inside his party, "Likud", and knit the coalitions in the government in accordance with his political stupidity, taking advantage of the absence of serious competitors in the Israeli political and partisan scene. According to the previous equation, Netanyahu has managed to head several governments since 2009 to the present day.

Despite the claim that Israel is a "state of law", the Israeli government and the opposition Zionist parties know very well, that the Israeli judiciary, is governed by political considerations and by the determinants of the so-called "political stability" in the occupying state. So, when the former Israeli Prime Minister, Ehud Olmert, was sentenced to prison for corruption, the judiciary was careful to make sure that its decision did not affect that "stability".

In addition, the Zionist components in the Knesset are careful to avoid moving the judicial file against Netanyahu, unless some of these components believe that it serves their interests and enables them to rule, Otherwise, relations of collusion between these components prevail in the governmental coalition as well as in the opposition.

Several Israeli parties have sharply criticized the Israeli attorney general for his reluctance to set the accusations against the current prime minister on the grounds of multiple suspicions and the appearance of more than a "state's evidence", who are prepared to establish suspicions and turn them into charges, in exchange for a reduced sentence for them involvement with Netanyahu .

As it is a state of occupation and colonization, the Zionist political components are keen to direct the pivotal decisions on the poles of the political and partisan scene towards deepening this occupation. Thus, the discourse of competition in the general elections to have a race among the candidates , about who is more hostile to the Palestinian national rights through settlement and Judaization, and according to this framework, the power of the Zionist leadership is being judged, which explains the gradual collapse of the "Kadima" party, after the absence of its founder, Ariel Sharon, and according to this framework too, the judicial file of any of these leaders is being seen, so if the file is not closed, it is postponed until a formula is created that allows for substitution, while ensuring "stability" that preserves the colonial role of the Hebrew state.

After Obama's administration allowed the issuance of Resolution 2334 in the Security Council, which condemned the settlement, observers noted that Netanyahu considered it as a blow to his political future, the criticism of his opponents and enemies, at that time, escalated, blaming him for the deterioration of Israel's relations with the United States due to his conflict with the previous administration, in light of the expectations that prevailed about the victory of the Democratic Party again in the US presidential elections. Even those close to Netanyahu did not hide such criticisms.

The American boons that Netanyahu has not expected, have been given to him, with the advent of the Trump administration and the positions it has taken on the settlement and Jerusalem, and more recently on the rights of Palestinian refugees, when it has reduced the US contribution to their budget.

It has been clear for the observers that these positions have formed for Netanyahu a solid ground on which he is standing, in the face of suspicions of corruption around him, especially that the Trump administration's proposal on the "Deal of the Century", produces Israeli entitlements, that their most important, is readiness of the State of Israel to participate in the pressure on the states of the Arab region, concerned with the implementation of this deal, and its operational readiness, within the framework of the joint American-Israeli operations, that has the responsibility to manage many of the mechanisms for implementing this deal, in addition to the stormy developments in the Arab region , that requires the availability of what the Zionist establishment says about it, "the required stability".

With the advent of the Trump administration, the Netanyahu government has considered itself free from justifying what is being said to be "painful concessions", as it was announced in the previous negotiating stations, and although this is all mere talk, it was the fuel for many auctions between the rival components in the Israeli political and partisan scene, so as the US policy to move toward the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, from the path of exerting pressure on the Palestinians , to impose the Israeli vision with the force of threat and extortion.
